The Esports Association of Nepal has published its annual calendar, with a franchise-style Nepal Esports League and esports as a National Games medal event.

The Esports Association of Nepal (EAN) has published its annual events calendar. The headline item is the first Nepal Esports League, a franchise-style competition that will run from January to March (Magh to Chaitra in the Nepali calendar). ICT Frame reported the announcement on 14 September 2026.

The EAN also confirmed that esports will be a medal event at Nepal's 10th National Games, the first time competitive gaming has been given that status in the country.

What else is on the calendar

  • The PUBG Mobile Global Open, billed as a South Asian championship, on 16–19 September
  • An inter-college championship running from December to January
  • The franchise league in the early months of the year

EAN secretary Ashish Dahal said the league format is meant to make Nepali esports "more professional and systematic". He also said a fixed calendar gives players, teams and organisers a predictable schedule for training, competing and finding sponsors.

Why it matters

Esports bodies across South Asia, from Nepal to Bangladesh and India, are working towards formal recognition and regular calendars. A set season and a place in the National Games give Nepali players and teams more stability, and give mobile game publishers a clearer local scene to support. Recognition through sport, as in Nepal, takes a different path from India, where esports titles must also register with a regulator.
