Kakao Games has agreed to buy a 39.56% stake in Me2on, a South Korean game developer, for ₩98 billion (around $71.5 million). Kakao Games' board approved the deal on 15 September 2026, and it is due to close on 16 November 2026.

About Me2on

Founded in 2010, Me2on makes social casino, casual and mind sports games. Last year it earned ₩120.9 billion (about $88.2 million) in revenue, with more than 80% coming from outside Korea, and made an operating profit of ₩12.6 billion. As part of the deal, Kakao Games also gains access to Me2on's subsidiaries, including the AI character chat platform BoriChat and the overseas publisher Ace Interactive Holdings.

Why Kakao is buying

This is Kakao Games' first major acquisition since it changed its leadership. International markets currently make up only about 20% of Kakao Games' revenue, and the company wants to use Me2on's overseas publishing network to grow abroad. CEO Lee Si-woo called the deal "the first step" in an M&A strategy built around companies with proven performance and profitability.

Why it matters

Social casino, card and mind sports games can look like a quiet corner of mobile gaming, but this deal shows how much value large publishers see in their steady revenue and global reach. For smaller studios, the deal is a sign that classic game genres still interest buyers.
