Valve revealed pricing for its Steam Frame VR headset on 14 September 2026, with the 256GB model starting at $1,059 (€1,049) and the 1TB model at $1,299 (€1,279). Half-Life: Alyx is included with the headset.

Instead of a first-come, first-served launch, Valve used a randomised reservation system for the first batch. According to Dexerto, buyers could join the list until 10am PT on 17 September, with purchase emails due to go out from 18 September.

The Steam Frame runs VR and flat-screen Steam games on its own and can also stream wirelessly from a PC using an included adapter. Its controllers offer full motion tracking as well as standard gamepad inputs. Valve does not include a charger in the box, but a 45W power supply is sold separately for $29, alongside optional accessory kits.

Why it matters

The Steam Frame brings SteamOS to an ARM-based standalone device, which could push more developers to test their games on mobile-class chips. At over $1,000, though, it is aimed at enthusiasts rather than the mass market, so its player base is likely to stay small at first.
